Artist's Comments

I just finished doing my best to put some of `Norke's advice into practice. I think it looks heaps better than it did originally...I might upload a side by side thingo to compare it in my scraps. In any case I feel like I've learned a lot about working in this sort of style, and in Photoshop, throughout the course of this picture. I hope you all like it and would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions you have on this one.

Once again a big shout out to `Norke, who's are was uncannily enough, the original reason I had a crack at this sort of thing :blush:

It looks rather pretty, I think. A very interesting mood, -not- what I would've expected from you ;)

lol....a man of many talents, yet master of none. Or something similar eh?

I have a couple of suitably creepy things in the works for you though =P

Once I can be bothered getting up early enough to get some good pictures I think I'll cheat on this one and finish it off with some textures ^^;

I get up at 7 AM every day now. When I go to sleep? After 3AM. I get four hours of sleep, maximum, every night now that my sleeping problems have resurfaced. Maybe it's school and stress and things... but getting up early is actually great, and not ONLY because I have classes. I like being active during daylight hours, before the sun disappears for the winter...

lol, I'm the same. But I've been working til fairly late at night lately which screws up my whole sleeping pattern. To get the sun right in the valley at the bottom of our street I'll need to be on the ridge at like six in the morning....possibly earlier now that we're coming into spring ^^;

Ah well, here the sun will soon begin rising in the afternoon, and setting half an hour after sunrise. It's really interesting, walking to school in complete darkness, with the aurora borealis - the northern lights, as I'm sure you know - as your only company, seeing a glimpse of sunlight through a classroom window sometime during the day and then walk home with the aurora borealis over your head after school. Especially to children and youth trapped in school all day, the winter is completely sunless.

Well you're welcome to borrow some of our sun *squints at out the window into the excessive brightness*

Personally I don't think I could hack darkness all the time. I'd be moving quick smart if I was in your position

I actually like it here. Sunlight, I like, but I like the Aurora Borealis too, and during summer, the sun never sets so... :)

I like the composition of this. Your image is clearly divided in parts. You should try to make those different components talk with eachother. For intstance, you have a huuuge sun in the background. Even though it's evening, it will still light up the whole place and there will be a glare around it. It should effect the mountains right beneath it at least. The trees below look too green to be ligthed by an evening sun. I think they should look a bit darker and have a more reddish glow closer to the sun.

Keep on painting and be sure to take your time on those little things. It's always a good idea to look at reference photos. You can always deviate from real life, but know where to do that. Make sure you achieve a believable look.
